Basic PICC Line Care and Maintenance Course

The successful use of a PICC or Midline catheter depends upon the nurse understanding how to use and care for them, as well as how to problem solve catheter related complications. Our 1-CEU course covers the difference between CVC’s, PICC’s and Midlines.  Proper care and maintenance of a PICC line, dealing with common complications of PICC line catheters, central line dressing change procedures and PICC line removal.

Parenteral Nutrition in Skilled Nursing Setting (TPN & PPN)

1 hour In-Service covers the administration of TPN-reviews lab draws, MD Orders, Pharmacy/Dietary communication.  Explain and review process and order if central line access is lost.  Provides a working understanding of TPN administration in the long term care setting.

IV Certification (California Only)

30 hour IV course approved by the State of California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.  Class is taught over three consecutive 8 hour days and one 6 hour day. This class does not include blood draws.

IV Refresher

4 hour refresher course for those who are already IV certified.  Didactic only.

PICC Insertion & Advanced PICC Insertion with Ultrasound Placement

Our PICC with Ultrasound Insertion Course is designed for experienced IV clinicians who would like to learn how to place PICC and Midline catheters. This is a eight (8) CE classroom course. Educational hours will be awarded to registered nurses who complete this course and pass the final examination. This course also qualifies as a refresher course for those already placing PICC and Midline catheters. Didactic Only, No Precepting

Other In-Services Available

1 hour training that can include use of PCA pumps, CADD pumps, bedside use and documentation, infusion documentation review, saline flushing protocol for open ended PICC lines, Blood Draws, etc.
